PREFACE
This report is one in a series on Soviet Ground Force and Logistic
installations heing prepared for a Dl.A_ ill .\ Panel. The series is being
coordinated, published and disseminated by APIC. The photographic
analysis is being performed by the \I'IC Photographic Analysis Group,
the (',I:A Photographic Intelligence Division (\111C), and the Production
Center 1P1c The photographic analysis for this particular re-
port was performed by the Production Center IPlc.
In the interest of uniformity, the titles and letter designators for
the facilities observed at these installations are identical with those
appearing in the project requirement. When a specific facility is not
observed both its title and letter designator are omitted in the report.
Titles and letter designators for the various facilities are as
follows: (:A/ railroad service,. 13) road service, iC) landing strips,
(D) admin:stratiye and troop housing areas,"(l-) storage areas, (F) am-
munition storage areas, (G) POL storage areas, (I 1 i other buildings and

The installation covers approximately 70
acres, is partly fenced, and is located at the
southeast edge of Malin, 50 kilometers (km)
southeast of Korosten and 72 km northeast of
Zhitomir. The installation is road served, and
the Korosten-Kiyev railroad passes approxi-
mately 2 km to the northeast.
The installation contains 22 buildings: one
multistory administration building, four multi-
story barracks, a possible housiiarea, one
storage building, 16 support buildings including
one possible vehicle maintenance building, and a
guard tower. A possible ammunition storage
area with an earth-covered bunker, an athletic
field, and one, possibly two, small arms ranges
are also within the installation.

Railroad Service
The double-track Korosten-Kiyev railroad
passes about 2 km northeast of the installation.
Road Service
The installation has access to an all-weather
road to Korosten and another road to Zhitomir.
Administrative and Troop Housing Area
Area D contains one square multistory
administration building with an open courtyard,
four multistory barracks, and nine support build-
ings, including a possible guard tower. This
area also includes a section of possible housing
along the northeast side.
General Storage Area
Area E contains one storage building and
seven support buildings, including one 65- by
35-foot possible vehicle maintenance building.
The area appears to be fenced.
Ammunition Storage Area
Area F is a possible earth-covered bunker
approximately 30 feet in diameter.
Athletic Field
The oval-shaped athletic field (K) is ap-
proximately 220 by 60 feet.
Small Arms Firing Ranges
Area LI is an 850- by 70- to 90-foot small
arms firing range.
Area L2 is a 90- by 40-foot small arms
firing range.
