The series is being coordinated, published and disseminated by NPIC. The photographic analysis is being performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group, the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division (NPIC), and the Production Center iPic (DIA). The photographic analysis for this particular re- port was performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group. In the interest of uniformity, the titles and letter designators for the facilities observed at these installations are identical with those appearing in the project requirement. When a specific facility is not observed both its title and letter designator are omitted in the report. Titles and letter designators for the various facilities are as follows: (A) railroad service, (B) road service, (C) landing strips, (D) administrative and troop housing areas, (E) storage areas, (F) am- munition storage areas, (G) POL storage areas, (H) other buildings and facilities, (J) equipment storage/maintenance areas, (K) athletic fields, (L) small arms firing ranges, (M) driver training areas, (N) tank/ assault gun firing ranges, (P) flat trajectory firing ranges, (Q) artillery emplacements (batteries), (R) infantry or combined arms field train- ing area or courses, (S) special training facilities, (T) unidentified facilities or tracking activity. TOP SECRET 25X1 25X1 TOP SECRET NPIC/R-486/64 Grodno Army Barracks North (Figure 1) is located in the northern sector of Grodno (53-40N 023-50E). A rail spur from the Bialystok-Vilnius rail line serves the army barracks and a POL storage area, which is located 3.5 kilometers (km) north of the barracks area. An all-weather road connects the two installations and both installations have all- weather road connections to Grodno. The secured barracks area (Figures 2 and 3) covers 85 acres and contains two adminis- tration buildings, eight barracks, six quarters, 20 storage buildings, 16 support buildings, a possible armory or large gymnasium, two wheeled-vehicle training courses, a vehicle park 25X1. and a vehicle storage/maintenance area with five vehicle maintenance/storage buildings. The secured POL storage area covers 36 acres and contains six large POL tanks, 17 small POL tanks and three support buildings. A rail spur serves the barracks and the POL storage areas. Buildings beside the track in the POL storage area and the barracks area are probably used as transloading facilities. An all-weather road provides access to Grodno city streets. Administrative and Troop Housing Areas Area Dl (Figure 3) contains five barracks, three storage buildings and six quarters. Area D2 contains two administration buildings, three barracks and six support buildings. Track activ- ity in both areas indicates probable occupancy. General Storage Areas Area El, active, contains eight storage and three support buildings. Area E2, active, contains nine storage and two support buildings. POL Storage Area Area G contains six 45-foot-diameter vertical tanks, seventeen 20-foot-diameter ver- tical tanks and three support buildings. The area appears active. Other Buildings A possible armory or large gymnasium (H) 520 by 210 feet, was under construction nd nearly complete t is possibly used for indoor training. Equipment Storage/Maintenance Areas Area J1 contains two vehicle sheds, 410 by 55 feet and 225 by 50 feet; three vehicle maintenance sheds, 260 by 110 feet, 350 by 95 feet and 210 by 65 feet; and five support buildings. Area J2 contains a vehicle park 950 by 470 feet.
