This report is one in a series on Soviet Ground Force and logistic
installations being prepared for a DIA/CIA Panel. The series is being
coordinated, published and disseminated by NPIC. The photographic
analysis is being performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group,
the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division (NPIC), and the Production
Center 1Pic (DIA). The photographic analysis for this particular re-
port was performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group.
In the interest of uniformity, the titles and letter designators for
the facilities observed at these installations are identical with those
appearing in the project requirement. When a specific facility is not
observed both its title and letter designator are omitted in the report.
Titles and letter designators for the various facilities are as
follows: (A) railroad service, (B) road service, (C) landing strips,
(D) administrative and troop housing areas, (E) storage areas, (F) am-
munition storage areas, (G) POL storage areas, (H) other buildings and
facilities, (J) equipment storage/maintenance areas, (K) athletic fields,
(L) small army firing ranges, (M) driver training areas, (N) tank/
assault gun firing ranges, (P) flat trajectory firing ranges, (Q) artillery
emplacements (batteries), (R) infantry or combined arms field train-
ing area or courses, (S) special training facilities, (T) unidentified
facilities or tracking activity.

Orsha Army Barracks and Training Area
Southeast is located on the southeast edge of
Orsha (54-30N 030-24E), immediately west of
the Orsha-Mogilev highway (Figure 1). The
Orsha SAM Support Facility is located approxi-
mately 0.8 kilometers (km) southwest and is
connected to the Barracks and Training Area
by road.
This installation, irregular in outline, is
at least partially--fenced and covers approxi-
mately 40 acres (Figures 2 and 3). It contains
one probable administration building, four multi-
story barracks, one probable multistory bar-
racks, two storage buildings, one vehicle shed,
and 11 small support buildings. A fenced ve-
hicle park is situated on the northwest edge, and
a probable athletic field is located on the south-
east edge of the installation. Approximately
42 vehicles, including 22 possible missile trans-
porters, were observed within the vehicle park

The proximity of the Orsha SAM Support
Facility and the presence of possible missile
transporters in the enlarged vehicle park sug-
gest present usage of the Orsha Army Barracks
in conjunction with the SAM Support Facility. 25X1

Railroad Service
The installation is not rail served.
Road Service
An all-weather secondary road provides
access to the Orsha-Mogilev highway.
Administrative and Troop Housing Area
Area D (Figure 3) contains one probable
administration building, four multistory bar-
racks, one probable multistory barracks, two
storage buildings and nine support buildings.
