This report is one in a series on Soviet Ground Force-and Logistic
`installations being, prepared for a DIA/CIA Panel. The series is being
Coordinated, published and disseminated by NPIC. The photographic
analysis is being performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group,
the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division (NPIC), and the Production
Center 1Pic (DIA). The photographic analysis for this particular re-
port was performed by the Production Center 1Plc.
In the interest of uniformity, the titles and letter designators for
the facilities observed at these installations are identical with those
appearing in the project requirement. When a specific facility is not'
observed both its title and letter designator are omitted in the report.
Titles and letter designators for . the various facilities are as
follows: (A) railroad service, (B) road service, (C) landing strips,
(D) administrative and troop housing areas, (E) storage areas, (F) am-
munition storage areas, (G) POL storage areas, (I-I) other buildings and
._.'facilities, (J) equipment storage /maintenance areas, (K) athletic fields,
(L) 'small arms firing ranges, (M) driver training areas, (N) tank/
assault gun firing ranges, (P) flat trajectory firing ranges, (Q) artillery
emplacements (batteries), (R) infantry or combined arms field train-
ing areas or courses, (S) special training facilities, (T) unidentified
facilities or tracking activity.

A secured storage area is located approxi
mately 18 kilometers (km) west-northwest of
Zhitomir and 60 km east-southeast of Novograd-
Volynskiy (Figure 1). It is situated about half-
way between the Zhitomir--Novograd-Volynskiy
railroad and an all-weather highway, and is con-
nected to the main rail and road routes.
The storage installation (Figures 2 and 3)
covers about 190 acres and an adjacent support
area covers approximately 59 acres. The stor-
age site is fenced and has an outer firebreak,
two access roads, and a rail spur.
The main installation contains 55 storage
buildings, a probable POL storage area, and
eight support buildings. The adjacent support
area contains one probable administration build-
ing/barracks and 13 support buildings.
The installation was first observed in~
several buildings were added, but earlier photo
imagery does not permit a specific count of the
increase in buildings,.
DESCRIPTION O INSTALLATION
Administrative and Troop Housing Area
Area D contains one T-shaped probable ad-
ministration building/barracks and 13 support
buildings.
General Storage Area
Area E contains 55 storage and 8 support
buildings.
POL Storage Area
Area G1 contains four probable semiburied
tanks, each 60 feet in diameter.

Railroad Service
A spur line from the Zhitomir--Novograd-
Volynskiy railroad enters the east end of the in-
stallation and appears to terminate near the
center of the site.
Road Service
A branch road from the all-weather road
-between Novograd-Volynskiy and Zhitomir en-
ters the east end of the installation. Another
road enters the installation from the west side.
