Subsequent photog-
rap ty showed on
addict clearing at the site with four probable,
ready nts or buildings.
Launch Areas No 1, 2, and 3 were first ob-
served on photography. The two
C, soft launch areas were -complete at that time,
and the hard launch area (Typo IV) was in an
early stage of construction. Later photographic
coverage of depicted the hard launch
area as complete.
and 3 are located
paunch Areas No 1, 2,
10.2 nm southeast, 8.8
nm east=southeast, and 18 tun southeast, respec-
tively, of the Jelgava Fixed Field Site Nct_~'
Another field site, (Jelgava 1) is situated 5 8 -
tun to the south.
Fixed Field Site No' 2
(Figure 2) contains
four roughly rectangular clearings oriented on
a 230-degree azimuth, which is similar to that
of the two soft launch areas and the nearby
field site. A small clearing of Indeterminable
function is seen midway between two of the
pidlike clearings and possible vehicles are
seen :ip a. widened area along the road pattern.
Four probable ready tents or buildings 105
by 25 feet are erected in a row just north of
the padlike clearings. Small objects are seen
on three of the four padlike clearings but no
missile transporters or personnel tent area are
visible. _
The nearest rail-to-road transfer point is
located in the city of Jelgava, 7.8 nm to the
southwest. However, the rail-to-road transfer
point midway between Launch Areas No I and
2 is more likely used by the field sites as well.
