This report is one in a series on Soviet Ground Force anu logistic
installations being prepared for a I)I:A!CI.A Panc1. The series is being
coordinated, published and disseminated by \1'1C. The photographic
analysis is being performed by the TIC Photographic Analysis Group,
the CIA Photographic Intcili~cnce Division (\l'IC ), and the Production
Center IPlc The photographic analysis for this particular re-
port Was performed by the APIC Photographic :Analysis Group.
In the interest of uniformity, the titles and letter designators fo_-
the facilities observed at these installations arc identical with those
appearing in the project rcquircnicnt. A\ hen a specific facility is not

The Kharkov Tank OCS is located in the
west sector of Kharkov immediately southwest
of Kharkov Armv Barracks Southwest (Figure
1). The installation is probably associated with
a training area located kilometers ('km)
east of the installation. The primary function
of the training area is driver training for tracked
vehicles.
Kharkov Tank OCS covers approximately
80 acres and contains 4 multistory barracks,
3 multistory classroom 'administration build-
ings, 31 general storage buildings, 6 vehicle
sheds, and 16 support buildings (Figures 2
and 3).

A rail spur from the Bryansk-Kharkov rail
line serves storage Area El with 4 sub-spurs.
The installation has direct access to Khar-
kov streets and all roads radiating from Kharkov.
Area D1 (Figure 3) is secured by a proba-
ble fence and contains 2 multistory barracks,
2 multistory classroom /administration build-
ings, and 2 support buildings. One multistory
probable classroom/administration building was

Area D2 is secured by a probable fence
and contains 2 multistory barracks, 1 probable
multistory classroom /administration building,
and 8 support buildings. No change has been
observed in this area since 1960.
Area El contains 20 general storage and
6 support buildings; 11 of the storage build-
ings are secured by a wall and are rail served.

10-mile radius of the installation. Two medium
POL tanks are located 5 km north, at 50-02N

tical and 8 small horizontal tanks are located
5 km east-southeast, at 49-45N 036-16L; and
17 large and 14 medium tanks are located 16
km east, at 49-48N 036-29E.
