CIA/PID Project No. 30076-5

1. This memorandum is in response to the above requirement requesting a
comparative analysis of the Dong Hoi, North Vietnam Port Facilities. CIA/PID
Project No. IB - 107/61+ and the most recent photography available were specified
for comparison.
2. Dong Hoi (CIA/PID/IB-P-61+/65)remains a minor port of North Vietnam. The
few changes that have taken place since the previous report are, in most cases, a.
deterioration of port facilities. No active construction is evident on the most
recent photography.
' 3. The four warehouses noted in the previous report exhibit no change on
photography. The administration building south of the warehouses has had
25X1Dits shape altered and now measures 40 X 20 feet. It appears that the function of
this building has also been changed, and it is interpreted as a probable warehouse.
' The open area west of the four warehouses contains two probable grain storage
structures. This area is also used for open storage. No new storage buildings
are evident.
' 1-. The "T" head pier east of the warehouses appears in disuse. It still
25X1D extends approximately 90 feet from the shore, but the stem leading to the loading
platform has shifted slightly up river. Cargo transfer is now probably done on
' the beach adjacent to the pier. The "T" head pier under construction in
25X1is now complete. It measures approximately 30 X 10 feet and extends
feet into the river. No storage facilities are associated with this pier.
