Continuing analysis of KEYHOLE at Severodvinsk and Petrovka
has revealed the following refinements in i1-i ormation from materials derived
directly from the original negative.
At Severodvinsk, the two submarines to ated along the quay west of the
launching basin are probably E II Type SSGNat least 385 feet length overall
(LOA). Four elevated twin-missile launchers are noted on the westernmost.
submarine. A proportional analysis indicates that the positioning of these
launchers most nearly approximates the spacing seen on the E II Type SSGN
(395' LOA) observed at Petrovka. The E-Class SSGN nearest the launch basin
appears to have at least three twin missile' launchers as evidenced by three
visible exhaust deflecters. The missile launchers on this- submarine are
not elevated, precluding determination of the existence of launchers adjacent
to the sail. The extremely low light level at Severodvinsk on this coverage,
with resulting lack of contrast and definition, precludesassignment of hard
mensural values to the imagery. The probable E-Class SSGN and the W/R-Class
SS reported i have.been reevaluated as being un-
identified yard craft equipment. The possible E-Class SSON reported in the
f,laating dock has subsequently been reevaluated as an U/I'submarine due to
lack of definition and indeterminate LOA.
Utilization of materials derived from the original n gative resulted
in certain minor changes in the configuration of the E II Type SSGN at Petrovka
as reported in NPIC These hanges are reflected
