This report is one in a series on Soviet Ground Force and Logistic
installations being prepared for a DIA/CIA Panel. The series is being
coordinated, published and disseminated by NPIC. The photographic
analysis is being performed by the NPIC: Photographic Analysis Group,
the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division (NPIC), and the Production
Center 1Pla (DIA). The photographic analysis for this particular re-
port was performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group.
In the interest of uniformity, the titles and letter designators for
the facilities observed at these installations are identical with those
appearing in the project requirement. \\hen a specific facility is not
observed both its title and letter designator are omitted in the report.
Titles and letter designators for the various facilities are as
follows: (A) railroad service, (B) road service, (C) landing strips,
(D) administrative and troop housing areas, (1~) storage areas, (F) am-
munition storage areas, (G) P01- storage areas, (H) other buildings and
facilities, (J) equipment storage/maintenance areas, (K) athletic fields,
(L) small arms firing ranges, (NI' driver training areas, (N) tank
assault gun firing ranges, (P) flat trajectory firing ranges, (Q) artillery
emplacements (batteries), (R) infantry or combined arms field train-
ing area or courses, (S) special training facilities, (1 ) unidentified
facilities or tracking activity.

The Odessa Artillery School is located in
the southeastern section of Odessa (Figure 1),
immediately west of Odessa Army Barracks
Chubayevka.
This installation covers approximately 107
acres and contains 3 administration buildings,
2 classroom/administration buildings, 13 bar-
racks, 11 storage buildings, 29 support build-
ings, 3 vehicle maintenance buildings, and a
vehicle park (Figures 2 and 3).
The installation was covered on TALENT
The installa-
tion was moderately active and no significant
change was discernible during this period.
Administration and Troop Housing Areas
Area D1 contains 2 multistory administra-
tion buildings, a multistory school /administra-
tion building, 6 multistory barracks, 2 storage
buildings, and 7 support buildings.
Area D2 contains a multistory administra-
tion building, a multistory classroom/adminis-
tration building,. 7 barracks, and 2 support
buildings.
Area El contains 3 storage buildings and
4!support buildings.
Area E2 contains 5 storage buildings and
14 support buildings.
Three. POL' storage areas are located
within 10 nm: Odessa Petroleum Storage
Shcelakova at 46-31N 030-43E (BE No_
_ with 55 medium and 2 small storage
tanks; Odessa Petroleum Storage and Pier
with
12 small storage tanks; and Odessa Petroleum
Storage Romanovka at 46-30N 030-42E (BE No
with 28 large, 4 medium and 13
small storage tanks.
Equipment Storage /Maintenance Areas
Area J 1 contains 3 vehicle maintenance
buildings (265 by 40 feet, 160 by 40 feet, and
160 by 35 feet), a storage building, and 2
support buildings. Two rows of vehicles are
visible on
Area J2 contains a vehicle/equipment park
(600 by 400 feet). Six rows of unidentified
vehicles/pieces of equipment are visible on
coverage.
