This report is one in a series on Soviet Ground Force and Logistic
installations being prepared for a DIA /CIA Panel. The series is being
coordinated, published and disseminated by NPIC. The photographic
analysis is being performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group,
the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division (NPIC), and the Production
Center 1Pla (DI:\). The photographic analysis for this particular re-
port was performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group.
In the interest of uniformity, the titles and letter designators for
the facilities observed at these installations are identical with those-
appearing in the project requirement. A\ hen a specific facility is not
observed Loth its title and letter: designator are omitted in the report.
'I ides and letter designators for the various facilities are as
follows: (A) railroad service, (B) road service, (C) landing strips,
(D), administrative and troop housing areas, (L) storage areas, (F) am-
munition storage areas, (G) PUL storage areas, (I-I) other buildings and
facilities, (J).cquipment storage maintenance areas, (K) athletic fields,
(AA small arm, firing ranges. (\l) driver training areas, -(\) tank '
assault run firing ranges, (P) flat trajectory firing ranges, (~)) artillery
emplacements (batteries), (R) infantry or combined arms field train-
ing area or courses, (5) special training facilities, (1 ) unidentified
facilities or tracking activity.

Veselvv Kut Armv Barracks and an as-
sociated training area are'located on the north-
ern edge of Veselvv Kut (Figure 1).
The barracks and training area cover
approximately 700 acres and contain an adminis-
tration building, 5 barracks, a storage building,
4 probable storage buildings, a vehicle park/
open storage area, 4 explosives storage build-
ings, 6 support buildings, 8 range control/
support buildings, a wheeled /Iracked-vehicle
driver-training course, and a tank/assault-gun
firing range (Figure 2).
This area was covered on KEYHOLE
missions from
M The only significant changes were an
increase in track activity at the tank/assault-
un firin range from light to medium since
and the construction of a wheeled/
tracked-vehicle driver-training course between
.Secondary all-weather roads connect this
area with Veselvv Kut.
Area D contains an administration build-
ing, 5 barracks, a storage building, 4 probable
storage buildings, a vehicle park/open storage
area (200 by 150 feet), and 6 support buildings.
Other Buildings
Areas 1l1, 112, and 1-13 contain a total of
8 range control 'support buildings which were
all constructed by

Area M contains a wheeled 'tracked-vehicle
driver-training course, which was constructed
between 25X1 D
Area F contains 4 explosives storage build-
ings. This area is probably double secured.
Area N contains a 4,400-foot range with
two 2,400-foot firing lanes and 4 moving-target
runs.
