This report is one in a series on Soviet Ground Force and Logistic
installations 'being preparedfof a DIA/CI:A Panel. The series is being
coordinated, published.:rnd disseminated by NPIC. The photographic
analysis is being performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group,
the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division (\.PIC), and the Production
Center lPla (DIA). The photographic analysis for this particular re-
port was performed by the Production Center 1Pla. -
In the interest .of uniformity, the titles and letter designators for
the facilities observed at these installations are identical with those
appearing in the project requirement. When a specific facility is not
observed both its title and letter designator are omitted in the report.
Titles and letter designators for the various facilities are as
follows: (:A) railroad service, (13) road service, (C) landing strips,
(D) administrative and troop housing areas, (E) storage areas, (F) am-
munition storage areas, (G) POL storage areas, (11) other buildings and
facilities, (J) equipment storage 'maintenance areas, (K) athletic fields,
(L) small arms firing ranges, (NI) driver training areas, (N) tank
assault gun firing ranges, (P) flat trajectory firing ranges, (Q) artillery
emplacements (batteries), (R) infantry or combined arms field train-
ing areas or courses, (S) special training facilities, (T) unidentified
facilities or tracking activity.

Groznyy Army Barracks East Bank is
located in the northern half of Groznyy, on
the east bank of the Sunzha River (Figure 1).
The installation covers approximately 16
acres and contains 15 buildings, including 6
barracks, 1 administration, I storage, 4 ve-
hicle storage and maintenance, and 3 mis-
cellaneous support (Figures 2 and 3).

Comparative analysis
reveals no significant change in facilities.
DESCRIPTION OF INSTALLATION
The' installation is road served and conpects
with the streets of Groznyy.
Aircraft Landing Strips
Groznyy East Airfield and Grosnyy North-
west Airfield are within 7 kilometers (km)
of the installation.
Administration and Troop Housing Area
Area D contains 4 single-story barracks,
2 multistory barracks, an L-shaped admini-
stration building, and 3 support buildings.
Area.. E contains a multistory, gable-roof
storage building.
There is abundant POL storage within 10
km of the installation.
Equipment Storage/maintenance Area
Area J contains one 525- by 50-foot vehicle
shed,' one 220- by 30-foot vehicle shed, and 2
maintenance support buildings, one 125 by 20
feet and one 55 by. 55 feet.
