This report, based on KEYHOLE photog-
raphy through
supplements NPIC-/'R-272 !64, dated May 1964. 1 /
Probablel, Launch Areas G and I I are located
approximately 5.9 nautical miles (nm) and 6.3
nm, respectively, east-southeast of the complex
support facility (Figure 1). They represent the
Type IB mode ' of. Soviet ICBM deployment'.
Each area was see for the first time in _
when initial clearing
and probable security fencing were apparent:
each area can be negated 2b days earlier in the
same month on
A 'common support facility serves both
launch sites, anti=-con~ists of an administration
and housing section, a logistical support section,
and a motor pool/vehicle park (Figures 2 and 3).
The administration and housing section, located
approximately 5,000 feet south of! Launch Site
G; consists of 11 barracks-type buildings, 3
L-shaped buildings, and approximately-23 other
buildings of various sizes, 1 of I which has a
bilevel roof. The logistical support section is
centrally located between. the 2 launch sites and
he administration and housing , section._ It
consists of 20 buildings, includin a' probable
batch plant, 3 probable building, at least 2
storage tanks, a mast/stack, and everal areas
of open storage. A dead-end rails ding contain-
ing` 4 tracks with a combined len- h of approx-
imately 2,200 feet is located on the western edge
of the logistical support section. T motor pool/
vehicle park is located southwest the logistical
support section, about midway `bet een it and the
administration and housing section. It contains
4 buildings and a vehicle parking rea.
Probable Launch Site G conains a- rail-
served launch site, apparently in a midstage of
construction. The rail right-of-way approaches
the site from the south, bypasses it on the east
and terminates north of the site. Approximately
340 feet south of the terminus, it branches to the
south to form a "wishbone" pattern which, when
complete, will provide rail service to the 2
probable launch positions and the area between
them. The launch site consists of a fenced area
containing 6 unidentified structures under con-
struction and interconnected by ditching. Four of
these structures are aligned on an approximately
north-south axis and the other 2, approximately
585 feet apart, lie on opposite sides of this line in
previously existing notched excavations. Ditch-
ing, c6fitatning-cot` uit- approximately _ 10
feet across, connects the 2 outer structures with
those on the north-south line. A shallow,
rectangular excavation is located just north of
the northernmost structure, and several shallow,
circular excavations can be seen at various
points in the launch site.
Probable Launch Site H, also.in a midstage
,of construction, is located approximately 3,850
feet east-southeast of Probable Launch Site G.
It is also fenced, and will be rail served by a
."wishbone" pattern of tracks serving the launch
site from the north. As at Probable Launch Site
G, there are 6 unidentified structures intercon-
nected by ditching at Probable Launch Site H.
Conduit is visible in some of the ditching between
the structures, but photographic quality will not
permit verification of its presence throughout
the site. Narrow ditching, connecting Probable
Launch Areas G and H, extends from a point near
the eastern edge of the northernmost building at
Probable Launch Site G to a point just northwest
of the northernmost building at Probable Launch
Site H.
