A training area is located 5 kilometers
(km) northeast of Kornevo, 28 km .south-south-
west of Kaliningrad, and 5 km north of the Polish
border (Figure 1). The installation is probably
utilized by the troops. located at'Kornevo Army
Barracks which is c adjacent to the western
edge of the training area. -

DESCRIP LION OF INS I-ALLA-I ION
The area is served by primary and
secondary roads.
Administration and Troop Housing Area
Adrtrinistration for the area is probably
furnished by Kornevo Army Barracks-which is
adjacent to the western edge of the training
area.
Area H, located in the vicinity of the firing
line, contains 3 buildings which are probably
used for range support.
Driver-Training Area
Area M is an irregularly shaped area
containing a tracked-vehicle driver-training
course. There are several areas on the cdutse
which . appear' to contain mound-shaped objects
which may be obstacles for the vehicles.
'l`ank/Assault-Gun Firing Ranges
Area Ni is a 2,500-foot tank/assault-gun
firing range with 3 moving targets.- This range
does not have the normal firing lanes. It
appears as though the tanks/assault-guns fire
from a dug-out area.
Area N2 is a 4,200-foot tank/assault-gun
firing range with two 2,500-foot lanes and' 2
moving targets. Several areas of heavy ground
scarring along- the firing lanes indicate that
small-arms firing may be conducted as' the
vehicles move down the firing lane..
Area T is 1,050 by 350 feet and contains
what may be lanes or rows which in the
western portion of the area are bisected by
8 walls or mounds. There are 3 buildings in
this area which may-. be partially secured.
