This report is one in a series on Soviet Ground f=orce and Logistic
installations being prepared for a I~l:\'Cl:\ -Panel. The series is being
coordinated, published and disseminated by \PIC. The photographic
analysis, is being performed bq the EPIC Photographic:\nal}?sis Group,
the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division i\PIC1, and the Production
Center 1Pla (1~1:\). Tlie photographic anah?sis for this particular re-
port a~as performed by the Cl:\ Photographic Intelligence Division
[n the interest of uniformity, u~c titles and totter designatorstor
the facilities observed at these installations are identical ~sith those
appearing in -the projecf requirement. \1'hen a specific facilin~ is not
observed both its title and letter designator are omitted in the report.
Titles and letter designators for the various facilities are as

A training area is located approximatel}?
9.5 kilometers (km) southeast of Kepyata and
approximately 66 km north+vest of Ashkhabad
(Figure 1). '
The installation consists of 2" major
target ranges, 1 tank/assault-gun moving target
range and lflat-trajectory range. A tent camp
is adjacen[ to the rahges and a support area
is approximately -1.5 km south of ahe firing
ranges (Figure 2).
The support area. contains 2 probable bar-
- racks, 1 T-shaped adminis[ration building, 2
probable ammunition storage buildings, 31 stor-
