This report is one in a series on Soviet Ground Force and Logistic
installations being prepared for a DIA/CIA l:anel. The series is being
coordinated, published and disseminated by NPIC. The photographic
analysis is being performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group,
the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division (NPIC), and the Production
Center 1Pla (DIA). The photographic analysis for this?articular re-
port was performed b' the Production Center 1P_la.
In the.'interest of uniformity, he. titles and letter designators for
the' facilities observed at these, installations are identical with those
appearing in the project requirement. When a specific. facility is not
observed both its title and letter designator are omitted in the report.
Titles and letter designators for the various facilities are as
follows: (A) railroad service, (B) road service, (C) landing strips,

This training area is located adjacent to a flat-trajectory' and small-arms range, 2
Totskoye Army Ba>racks. Northwest (BE No tracts for special training, and numerous artil-

DESCRIPTION OF INSTALLATION .
General Storage Area
The training area is situated 3 km north of
the Kuybyshev-Orenburg railroad. There are
rail-loading facilities halfway betweenTotskoye
and Kirsanovka.
A hard-surface road runs into the area,
and there is a well-defined road net and nu-
merous trails within the maneuver area.
Totskoye Airfield (BE N- a
sod strip 5 km south, does not appear to be
used extensively.
Area Dl. contains the Totskoye Army Bar-
racks Northwest.
Area D2 contains 3 single-story barracks
and probably houses support troops.
Areas D3, D4, and D5 are tent cantonment
areas.
Area E contains 6 general storage buildings.
Ammunition Storage Areas
Area F1 contains eight 120- by35-footdou-
ble-fenced ammunition storage buildings.
Area F2 contains five 75- by 25-foot
double-fenced ammunition storage buildings.
-POL Storage Area
The POL storage area is located in the
Totskoye Army Barracks Northwest.
Area M1 is,a probable wheeled and tracked
vehicle driver-training course. The loop road
has 4 man-made hills and 1 gap crossing facility.
The area has a support building used for year-
round training.
Area M2 is a probable wheeled-vehicle
driver-training course with a hill and gap
obstacle. No winter trackage was observed.

Area M3 is a crew training area with a
tank gun-crew training section andl 2 turret
trainers.
Tank/Assault-Gun Firing Range
Area N is a 4,200-foot tank/assault-gun
firing range with seven 2,500-foot lanes, two
2,100-foot lanes, 5 moving targets, and 3 range
support buildings.
Flat-Trajectory Firing Range
Area P is a 2,800-foot flat-trajectory firing
range with 6 lines of fixed targets, 6 probabli
moving targets, 10 range towers, and 3 support
buildings.
Areas Q1 and Q2 contain numerous field
artillery emplacements.
Areas Q3 and Q4 are field artillery impact
areas.

Special Training Facilities
ea S1 appears to be the ruins of a village,
posgy used for street fighting or defense
training.
Area S4, contains trackage indicating that
this is a river-crossing training site. There
are possible assembly areas on both sides of
the river.
Area S3 has.4 large and 4 small aircraft
silhouettes on the ground indicating that this
is a possible bombing or strafing range.
Area T1 has six 2,500-foot-long parallel
Janes spaced approximately 200 feet apart.
Areas T2, T3, and T4 have very large
revetments (100 by 50 feet). They are?probably
used for equipment.
