TAGANROG AIRFR ME PLANT No. 49/86
Taganrog Airframe Plant No. 49/86 was first covered by photography on .
eptember 1961, and:contained at that time approximately
f floorspace. ~A comparison of this photography with
March 1965, reveals that additions totaling
square feet were constructed, bringing-the total floorspace of the"plant to
quare feet as of March 1965-.
The additions consist of a final assembly hall under construction (Item 1,
Figure 2 and Table I)-, a possible machine shop under construction (Item 14), and
a repair hangar (Item 15). The. construction of the repair hangar was evident
in September 1961-and was completed by April 1962. The construction of the new
final assembly hall was first apparent in June 1963 apd?is now approximately
seventy-five per cent complete.- The possible machine shop was in-tne early
stage of-construction in August 1964 and is approximately eighty-per cent
completed at this time. -
Table I contains*the description and dimensions of the major buildings
comprising Airframe plant 49/86. All measurements were made by the NPIC
Technical Intelligence Division, with the exception of the heights of those
numbered buildings marked with an asterisk and the heights of most-unnumbered
buildings. These height measurements were-made by the IAD/IB analyst-and are
only approximate.
The plant contains-approxim Llinear feet-of hard- s}L faced roads,
probably.concrete, which average New roads will prz'be:ly 6e built
in the vicinity of-the new contruct'ion buildings 1 and 14), butthe pattern is
not yet apparent. There-are about 14,200 linear feet of single-track rail road
within the complex. The plant is secured on three sides by a fence measuring .
20;100 feet. long.- The eastern end of the plant borders on the Taganrogskiy
Zaliv (Bay) and does not appear:to be enclosed by a fence.
