This report is one in a series on Soviet Ground Force and Logistic
installations being prepared for a DIA/CIA Panel. The series is being
coordinated, published and disseminated by NPIC. The photographic
analysis is being performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group,
the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division (NPIC), and the Production
Center 1Pla (DIA). The photographic analysis for this particular re-
port was performed by the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division
In the interest of uniformity, the titles ano letter designators for
.the facilities observed at these installations are identical with those
appearing' in the project requirement. When a specific facility is not
observed both its title and letter designator are omitted in the report.
Titles and letter designators for the various facilities are as
follows: (A) railroad service, (B) road service, (C) landing strips,
(D) administrative and troop housing areas, (E) storage areas, (F) am-
munition storage areas, (G) POL storage areas, (H) other buildings and
facilities, (J) equipment storage/ maintenance areas, (K) athletic fields,
(L) small arms' firing ranges, (M) driver training areas, (N) tank/
assault gun firing ranges, (P) flat trajectory firingranges, (Q) artillery
emplacements (batteries), (R) infantry or combined arms field train-
ing areas or courses, (S), special training facilities, (T) unidentified
facilities or tracking activity.

Chirchik Army Barracks and School is
located in the- northern section of Chirchik
(Figure 1.).
The installation covers approximately 116
acres and.contains 3 multistory administration
buildings, 5 multistory barracks, 12 single-story.
barracks, 10 storage buildings, 33 support
buildings, 7 vehicle sheds, a?probable swimming
pool, an inactive small-arms firing range, an

The rail line serving the installation appears
to be inactive. -.
obstacle course, a probable-obstacle course, and
a probable subcaliber moving-target firing range
(Figures 2 and 3).
The installation is covered on ,TALENT
missions in and KEYHOLE mis-
sions between
Comparative analysis reveals no significant
change in facilities. A high rate of activity is
noted on all coverage.
DESCRIPTION OF INSTALLATION
Railroad Service Equipment Storage/Maintenance Area
All-weather roads provide access ; to
Chirchik and the Kha Nym canal underpass con-
nects the installation to the Chirchik training
areas.
Area J contains 7 vehicle sheds, three 390
by 45 feet, three 140 by 45 feet, and one 155 by
45 feet, and:2 support buildings. Twenty-seven
cargo trucks, 5 vans, 8 prime movers, and 16
unidentified vehicles were observed in the area
on coverage.
Area L is a 370- by 75-foot small-arms
Administrative and Troop Housing Areas firing range. It is no longer active.
Area D1 contains 2 T-shaped multistory
administration buildings, I C-shaped multistory
administration building, 5 multistory barracks,
and 1 support building.
Area D2 contains 12 barracks, 2 storage
buildings, and 1-1 support buildings.

buildings.
Area H contains a probable swimming pool
which a ears to. be partially filled with water
