PREFACE
This report is one in a series on Soviet Ground Force and Logistic
installations being prepared for a DIA/CIA Panel. The series is being
coordinated, published _and disserriinated by NPIC. The photographic
analysis is being performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group,
the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division (NPIC), and the 'Production
a.
Center 1P la (DI:1). The photographic analysis for CIz-is particular re-;
port was performed by the Production Center 1Pla. ,'
In the interest of uniformity, the titles and letter designators for
the facilities observed ht these installations are identical with those
appearing in the project requirement. R'hen a specific facility is,not
observed both t`~s title and letter designator .are omitted in the report.
Titles and letter designators for the various facilities are as
follows: (A) railroad .service, (B) road service, (C) landing strips,
(D) administrati~%e and troop housing areas, (E) storage areas, (F) am-
munition storage areas, (G) POL storage areas, (H) other buildings and
facilities, (J) equipment storage/maintenance areas, (l:) athletic fields,
(LL) small arms firing ranges, (M) driver training areas, (N) tank/
assault gun firing ranges, (Pj flat trajectory firing ranges, (Q) artillery
emplacements (batteries), {R) infantry or combined arms field train-
ing areas or courses,' (S) special training facilities, (T) unidentified
facilities or tracking activity.

Area D2 contains 4 multistor}~ barracks/
administration buildings, 5 storage/support
structures, 1 guard hut, ?and 4 unidentified build-
ings. A fence encloses part of the area and a
call the remainder. ~
Area J contains a 95- by` 80-foot motor
vehicle maintenance building, a 150- by 25-
foot motor vehicle storage structure, and 4
storage/support buildings. Approximately 22
caigo trucks ~ti?ere visible in May 1965. The
area is secured by a wall and a fence.

A?~possible military installation is located
in the village of Amidzbany, approximately 8
kilometers (km) southeast of the center of
Baku (Figure 1).
The secured installation covers approiti-
mately ~-10 acres and contains a barracks and
housing area with 8 multistory barracks and
numerous small houses, a barracks/adminis-
tration area with 4 multistory barracks/ad-
ministration buildings and 10 other structures,
and a motor pool with 6 buildings (Figures 2
and 3). Approximately 22 trucks were observed
in the motor pool in A~ay 1965. No training
facilities were noted.
The area was covered on i KEYHOLE mis-
. Sion of interpretable photography in May 1965_
Rail service is available 3 km ~;?esc.
Good all-~eeather roads serve the area.
Area Dl is fenced and contains 8 probable
multistory barracks and numerous small quar-
ters.
