SIBERIAN RAILROADS NORTH OF THE TRANS?SIBERIAN
Aerial nhotogranhy taken during reveals a heretofore
unknown secondary route of the Trans-Siberian Railroad (Trans-Sib)
between Zaozeirny and "Xansk; a branch line running north along the
Yenesei River from Krasnoyarsk to Dodonovo;'and a short stretch of
railroad near Syktyvkar.
Kansk rasosrarak
There is an auxi1lary route of the Trans?Sib between Kansk and
ZaosernW. It runs north of the regular route, and did not appear to be
in use at tote time of the photogra. It is possible that this represents
an old road bed that has been abandoned. Both routes are shown on the
attached tap.
Krasnoyarak-Dodonoyo
Along the right bank of the Yvnesei, from Krasnoyarsk to beyond
Dodonovo, there is an active rail line. It appears that the line is
double?traek for at least hart of the distance of about 40 kilometers,
but the scale does not normit nositive determination. At a point some
five miles north-northeast of Dodonovo the line appears to end abruptly,
with no evidence of line surveys beyond that point. Several traf.-

probably work trains, are in evidence on the line.
hantvddane ak
Photography of the area and to the south of the confluence of the
Irtysh and the Ob Rivers shows no very good evidence of a rail line.
One earth scar running south from Khanty44ansiy8k is very straight for
long stretches, but other indications point to its being a road rather
than a railroad. In this area of relatively flat country, there is no
reason for a road to be other than straight,
ykts
The single aerial photo showing Syktyvlmr Images what is almost
certainly a railroad entering the town from the southwest. The mall
seale of the oblique photo limits interpretation, but additional photos
have been ordered. If the additional phc;tograrAW pormits more detailed
treatment' a snpnlementary report will be Is"*
