S'EMIPALATINSK "A" TEST RANGE
This report presents the negative results of a photographic
search for atomic bomb test sites in the triangle formed by Semi-
palatinsk, Balkash and Karaganda, USSR.
Only one mission of _ photography covers this area. This
mission proceeds generally west to northeast entering the area of
interest a few miles south of Karaganda and departing approximately
halfway between Karaganda and Semipalatinsk.
The quality of this photography is uniformly poor and photo
analysis was further hampered by small scale, snow cover and clouds.
No suspect areas were observed on the photographs. However, because
the above mentioned cloud and snow cover and poor quality photography
could readily conceal or obliterate all evidence of atomic bomb
test sites, this report must not be assumed to eliminate the
photographed area from its suspect status.
