FORGER FLIGHT ACTIVITY, SAKI AIRFIELD, USSR (TSR)
(TSR) At Saki Airfield

seen hoverin over one of the vertical takeoff or landing (VTOL) pads at the
southwest end of the airfield in preparation for horizontal flight (Figure 1).
(S/WNINTEL) In addition, four FORGER A, two FORGER B, and two FISHBED air-
craft were observed on the parking apron near the VTOL pads. One of the FORGER B air-
craft was taxiing toward the VTOL pads for possible flight activity, and a FISHBED aircraft
was landing.
(S/WNINTEL) Eight other FORGER aircraft deployed at this airfield were seen in the
FORGER dispersal area. Six FORGER A were parked on hardstands, one FORGER A was
parked on a test/maintenance pad, and one FORGER B was parked on the grass. Six ad-
ditional FISHBED aircraft were also parked on hardstands in this dispersal area.
(S) Saki Airfield is a Soviet naval aviation airfield, 23 nautical miles west-northwest of
Simferopol. It is a support airfield for a BLINDER reconnaissance regiment and a FORGER
unit subordinate to the Black Sea Fleet Air Force.
