COMMENT:
This SA-2 conversion to an SA-5 SAM site is different from earlier converted sites.
The SA-2 site physically separates the SA-5 launch area from the tracking and
guidance facility. The purpose of this conversion was to improve the intercept
capability of the strategically located SAM site. Also, the Soviets were able to
utilize existing support facilities.
