CIVIL DEFENSE REGIMENTS - USSR
COMMENT: The wartime mission of a Civil Defense Regiment is to repair damage caused by an
enemy nuclear, biological or chemical attack. The key identification feature is their
unique training facilities, such as the obstacle course illustrated below. Civil defense
units are-equipped with engineering vehicles, fire trucks, decontamination equipment and
1-3 light tanks for reconnaissance. Numbers and types of equipment and training aids
observed may vary from unit to unit. A civil defense unit is probably located in or aroin
