coMMENT: The PZM is anew item of ditching equipment which has been appearing
singly in the engineering companies of tank regiments and. singly or in groups
of three in the engineering companies of motorized rifle regiments, as a
replacement for both BTMs and MDK-2s. Occasionally a single BTM will still
remain in the engineering company of a motorized r ifle regiment only. PZMs also
appear in units of three as supplemental ditching equipment in divisional
engineer battalions.
