The apron is part of an aboveground ABM launch position which is still under construc- tion. The launch tube/canister featured at least two support rings and a base flan 25X1 25X1 25X1 25X1 25X1 the launch tube/canister was installed horizontally (Figure 25X1 2) in the launcher mechanism at the test position. The launch tube/ canister was secured by a framework which overhangs the forward edge of the launch position flame bucket and probably serves to elevate the launch tube/canister to the desired firing angle. The framework i above the base of the flame bucket. A fixed- 25X1 firing azimuth of 285 degrees is suggested by the fan-shaped instrumenta- tion array to the rear of the launch position. With the installation of the launch tube/canister, this new launch position is approaching opera- tional status. (TSR) The new aboveground launch position is collocated with two incomplete missile launch silos at Site 3; all were begun in July 1976. The missile intended for these silos and the new aboveground launch position has not yet been determined.
