1. SIGNIFICANCE: THE IDENTIFICATION OF THREE NEW AMM/SAM LAUNCH

3. LOCATION:
ALL THREE NEWLY IDENTIFIED LAUNCH COMPLEXES ARE
SIMILAR TO THE RECENTLY CONSTRUCTED SARY-SHAGAN
AMM/SAM LAUNCH AREA 1, EACH CONSISTING OF THREE
LAUNCH SITES, AN ELECTRONIC SITE, AND A SUPPORT
AREA. OTHER AMM/SAM LAUNCH COMPLEXES UNDER CON-
STRUCTION OBSERVED TO DATE IN THE USSR ARE LOCATED
NEAR LENINGRAD, TALLINN, CHEREPOVETS, LIEPAJA, AND
AT THE SARY-SHAGAN ANTIMISSILE TEST CENTER.
ONE COMPLEX IS LOCATED 5.4 NM ENE OF NIZHNYAYA
SALDA AND 31 NM ENE OF NIZHNIY TAGIL; ANOTHER IS
LOCATED 9.6 NM NNE OF NIZHNYAYA TURA AND 52 NM
NORTH OF NIZHNIY TAGIL;.AND ANOTHER IS LOCATED 20
NM NE OF SVERDLOVSK AND 61 NM 8E OF NIZHNIY TAGIL.

A. NIZHNYAYA SALDA AMM/SAM LAUNCH COMPLEX CONSISTS OF'3 LAUNCH SITES
AND AN ELECTRONIC SITE IN INITIAL STAGE OF CONSTRUCTION AND A SUPPORT
AREA.
POSITIONS ARE BEING CLEARED FOR THE ELECTRONIC SITE IN A WOODED AREA ESE
OF THE LAUNCH SITES.

APPROXIMATELY 15 BUILDINGS ARE LOCATED IN A SUPPORT AREA JUST WEST OF
THE LAUNCH SITES.
B. NIZHNYAYA TURA AMM/SAM LAUNCH COMPLEX CONSISTS OF 3, LAUNCH SITES
AND AN ELECTRONIC SITE IN INITIAL STAGE OF CONSTRUCTION AND 2 SUPPORT AREAS.
THE ELECTRONIC SITE; SITUATED APPROXIMATELY 3,740 FT NE OF LAUNCH SITE B,
CONSISTS OF CLEARINGS FOR 3 RADAR POSITIONS AND A PROBABLE CENTRAL CONTROL
POSITION.
APPROXIMATELY 15 BUILDINGS ARE LOCATED IN A SUPPORT AREA WEST OF THE
LAUNCH SITES AND 5 BUILDINGS ARE LOCATED JUST SOUTH OF LAUNCH SITE B.
C. SVERDLOVSK AMM/SAM LAUNCH COMPLEX CONSISTS OF 3 LAUNCH SITES AND
AN ELECTRONIC SITE IN INITIAL STAGE OF CONSTRUCTION AND A SUPPORT AREA.
CLEARINGS ARE OBSERVED FOR 2 RADAR POSITIONS AND THE PROBABLE CENTRAL
CONTROL POSITION IN THE ELECTRONIC SITE 3,860 FT SSE OF LAUNCH SITE B.
LOCATED NW OF THE LAUNCH SITES IS A SUPPORT AREA CONSISTING OF APPROX-
IMATELY 15 BUILDINGS.
