SIGNIFICANCE: PROBABLE NEW CLASS DLG, LARGER THAN ANY PRE- VIOUSLY PRODUCED IN USSR, IN FITTING-CUT BASIN. THIS YARD IS ONE OF THE TWO MAJOR PRODUCERS OF DESTROYERS IN THE SOVIET UNION (THE OTHER IS NIKOLAYEV SHIPYARD NORTHERN 61 KOMMUNA 445). FURTHER ANALYSIS REVEALED A LARGE U/I SURFACE COMBATANT (REPORTED LENGTH APPROX 530 FT) IN THE MAIN FITTING-OUT BASIN. THIS SHIP APPEARED TO HAVE A, SIGNIFICANTLY BROADER BEAM THAN A PROB KASHIN-CLASS DIG MOORED NEARBY. A LARGE U/I SHIP WAS ALSO OBSERVED UNDER CON- STRUCTION ON THE SOUTHERNMOST OUTSIDE BUILDING- WAY AT ZHDANOV SHIPYARD 190. THE VISIBLE LENGTH, APPARENTLY WITHOUT THE BOW PORTION IN PLACE, WAS APPROX 480 FEET. THE STERN AND VISIBLE BRIDGE CONFIGURATION HAVE A RESEMBLANCE TO SIMILAR IMAGERY OBSERVED ON THE U/I 530 FOOT SURFACE COMBATANT AT THE FITTING-OUT BASIN.
