EXPANSION OF SHIPBUILDING FACILITIES HERE
WITH THE CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW PROBABLE CON-
STRUCTION HALL ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE TRANS-
VERSER ACROSS FROM THE LARGE MAIN CONSTRUCTION
3. LOCATION:
BUILDING ON THE SOUTHWEST SIDE OF THE
TRANSVERSER, IMMEDIATELY SOUTH OF THE NEW
PROBABLE CONSTRUCTION HALL, WAS OBSERVED IN
THE EARLY STAGES OF CONSTRUCTION. THIS
BUILDING WILL BE THE LARGEST SHIPBUILDING-
ASSOCIATED BUILDING IN THE SOVIET UNION.
ON THE WEST BANK OF THE VOLGA RIVER IN THE
SORMOVO SUBURB OF GORKIY.

9. MISSION READOUT: THE ROOF IS ALMOST COMPLETE ON THE THIRD BAY
OF THE NEW BUILDING TO THE WEST OF THE TRANSVERSER. THE LARGE BUILDING
TO THE SOUTHWEST OF THE TRANSVERSER IS APPROXIMATELY 1330 X 430 FT AND
STILL IN THE VERY EARLY STAGES OF CONSTRUCTION. A SMALL SECTION OF THE

BUILDING, 48o x 155 FT, IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION IN THE EASTERN CORNER OF
THE YARD. A SMALL SECTION OF THE YARD IS UNDERWATER WHERE THE VOLGA
RIVER HAS OVERFLOWED ITS BANK. OB - ONE PROBABLE Q-CLASS SS (WITH
POSSIBLE SONAR DOME ON THE BOW), ONE POSSIBLE J-CLASS SSG WITH VERTICAL
SCREENING ALONG BOTH SIDES, 3 TRANSPORTER DOCKS, ONE PROBABLE TRAIN
FERRY, AT LEAST 2 OCCUPIED FLOATING DOCKS, 2 STACK AFT VESSELS, 2
POSSIBLE FLOATING WORKSHOP TYPE VESSELS, ONE POSSIBLE AIR CUSHION/
HYDROFOIL VESSEL, AND ONE FLOATING CRANE ALONG THE VOLGA RIVER. ALSO
OBSERVED ARE ONE TRANSPORTER DOCK ON THE TRANSVERSER CRADLE, ONE TRANS-
PORTER DOCK AND ONE POSSIBLE ZEYA-,CLASS YRSN UNDER CONSTRUCTION ON THE
BUILDING WAYS.
