THE AIRFIELD AT GULU IN NORTHERN UGANDA HAS
BEEN LENGTHENED AND RESURFACED AS PART OF A
SOVIET MILITARY AID PROGRAM.
APPROXIMATELY 1 NM NW OF LULU.
PRIOR TO ITS RECONSTRUCTION, GULU WAS A
CIVILIAN AIRFIELD MEASURING APPROXIMATELY
5,980 X 100 FT. EARLY IN 1965 WORK ON THE
FIELD WAS BEGUN BY A LOCAL UGANDAN FIRM, BUT
APPARENTLY STOPPED DUE TO LACK OF FUNDS AND
EQUIPMENT.
