1. SIGNIFICANCE:
TEST STAND NO 2 IS COMPLETE AND IS ALMOST
AN EXACT DUPLICATE OF TEST STAND NO 2 AT
THE VORONEZH ROCKET ENGINE TEST FACILITY.
2. LOCATION: 7.5 NM EAST OF PERM.
3. REMARKS:
TEST STAND NO 1 WAS PROBABLY OPERATIONAL
IN LATE 63 OR EARLY 64 BUT PHOTOGRAPHY DID
NOT REVEAL EVIDENCE OF STATIC TEST FIRING
ACTIVITY UNTIL JAN 65. THE TEST FACILITY
WAS ESSENTIALLY COMPLETE IN 1963 AND HAS
SUBSEQUENTLY BEEN ENLARGED FOR AN EXPANDED AND
MORE COMPLEX TEST PROGRAM. CONSTRUCTION OF
TEST STAND NO 2 BEGAN IN EARLY 1964, PROBABLY
ABOUT THE SAME TIME AS CONSTRUCTION ON TEST
STAND NO 2 AT VORONEZH, AND BOTH WERE PROBABLY
DESIGNED TO TEST UPPER STAGE ENGINES. DUE TO
THE ABSENCE OF COMPONENTS TO SUPPORT A RESEARCH

9. MISSION READOUT: TEST STAND NO 2 IS COMPLETE AND IS ALMOST AN EXACT DUP-
LICATE OF TEST STAND NO 2 AT THE VORONEZH ROCKET ENGINE TEST FACILITY. A
SLIGHTLY DOWNWARD-DIRECTED DIFFUSER PROTRUDES FROM THE FRONT OF THE STAND
AND 4 TALL VENT STACKS ARE ON TOP OF THE TEST STAND STRUCTURE. NO BLAST
MARKS OR STAINS ARE APPARENT AT THE END OF THE DIFFUSER.
TEST STAND NO 1 ALMOST DUPLICATES TEST STAND NO 1 AT THE KURUMOCH ROCKET
ENGINE TEST FACILITY. A SMALL BLAST PIT AND STAINS NEARBY ARE INDICATIVE
OF TEST ACTIVITY.
THE LARGE POSSIBLE FABRICATION BUILDING IN THE CENTER OF THE FACILITY HAS
A HIGH-BAY SECTION IN THE CENTER, NUMEROUS TALL ROOF VENTS ON THE LOW SEC-
TIONS, AND ON/OFF LOADING CRANES AT EACH END. THE LOW SECTIONS MAY CONTAIN
SMALL WORKSHOPS. CONSIDERABLE ACTIVITY IS VISIBLE THROUGHOUT THE FACILITY.
VEHICLES, RAIL CARS, CRATES, AND TANKS IN OPEN STORAGE ARE VISIBLE. NO NEH
CONSTRUCTION OBSERVED.
