Approved For Rase 2000/06?tt MMORANDUM FOR: DC/MS 29 September 1952 FROM: Medical Office' 25X1A6b SUBJECT: Radiation Equipment - 25X1A6b 25X1A 1. Over the past r an extensive amount of radiation equipment dered To date, about three-fourths of has been or ea this equipment has been receive . 2. This equipment was checked in and standardized by a radiation technician who has since resigned. The only other person familiar with the equipment (C/FCD) has also resigned. There is, then, the need for additional personnel trained in use of this equipment. 3. It should be noted that in the plan for use of this equipment, at least 60 to 70 per cent of the total amount of equipment should be stored for use in the Washington area. 4. The following recommendations are therefore made: a. That a fully qualified person with extensive scientific background and experience in radiation equipment be cleared for use as a consultant. b. That this person supervise the overall planning and use of equipment and prescribe necessary safety standards. (It is anticipated that after the program is established, he would be consulted once or twice a year to suggest changes or improvements.) c. That one or two agency medical technicians be sent to a short training course (one to three months) to learn the everyday use and service of equipment. With this training, they could in turn train all other necessary personnel on the mechanical use of radiation measurement equipment. This could be done in five to ten hours of direct instruction. 114 "- L .....E Ny JA ~ ,f :.~ `t {vl Approved For Release 2000/06/07 : CIA-RDP79-O0434A000100070001-2 Approved For Ruse 2000/06 f %,9 34A0 00070001-2 5.
