Application forms are now available for scholarship grants from the fund whose purpose it is to provide scholarship assistance for qualified de- pendent children of present and former employees who desire to continue their education at accredited colleges and universities in our country. Due to limitations on available funds, grants are necessarily made on a competitive basis to a limited number of applicants. 2. The primary factors in determining eligibility for scholarship aid are scholastic record, motivation, and financial need. Individuals are expected to contribute to their educational expenses through part-time work during the school year or during the summer or by qualifying for other scholarship aid. 3. Forms may be requested from headquarters through normal channels for employees who are interested in applying for this scholarship assistance on behalf of their dependent children for the academic year 1968-69. (Copies of forms forwarded in response to such a request will be accompanied by instructions governing their completion and transmission to headquarters.) Scholarship awards will be' made in the late spring, and applications must be completed and returned by 1 April 1968. 4. In addition to the fund's regular scholarship grants, there is a separate, full-tuition scholarship fund to be used for study at Iden A. The C:onor who established these scholarships stipulated that preference be given to dependents of personnel of the D career service, although children of employees of other career services are also eligible. The scholarship requires applicants to certify acceptance by or attendance at Iden A before they are considered for scholarships. For further information you are referred to ated 7 November 1967.
