UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE el i, L'r{' FOREST SERVICE Approved For Release 2QQ0/09/06 : CIAM8398L9,O%A40P86-6 e, e, 1Z 50 -( S1 I Professor G. I. Vorobyov State Committee for USSR Council Ministers 18 Lesteva Street Moscow, M 162 USSR Dear Professor Vorobyov: 2 1 JAN 1974 i SOL// e fv' Please accept my best wishes for personal and professional success during this New Year of 1974. Along with these wishes I am happy to extend an invitation to you and members of the Working Group in Forestry to come to the United States for a second round of discussions on forestry cooperation and for a visit to some of our forestry operations and facilities. It would aid our discussion of future cooperative activities if a representative for the Ministry of Pulp and Paper and the Ministry of Wood Working Industries could be included in the USSR delegation. As you will recall this was discussed during the September meeting of the Working Group and was brought up again by the U.S. side during the November meeting of the Joint Commission. Because of scheduling difficulties here,we are suggesting June 9-21, 1974 as shown on the enclosed proposed itinerary. In order to make the best use of your time we would appreciate knowing as soon as possible the following: 1. Are these dates agreeable? 2. Does the proposed schedule meet with your approval? 3. How many people will be in the delegation and what are their major forestry interests? 4. Do you or any of your delegation plan travel beyond that officially scheduled? *USDA Waiver Letter In ERU File* Approved For Release 2000/09/06.: CIA-RDP79-00798A000400020006-6 b200-1I (1/69) Approved For Release 2000/09/06 : CIA-RDP79-00798A000400Q006-6 During your visit we plan to acquaint you with several aspects of U.S. forestry relating in considerable part to the five subject areas agreed upon in our first meeting. We feel these are both important and potentially beneficial steps for continuing US-USSR forestry cooperation. Again, I am pleased to extend this invitation and look forward to a favorable response.
