SIGNIFICANCE: THIS BRIEFING BOARD DEPICTS ROAD CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT IN THE HAT PHONG AREA OF NORTH VIETNAM. 2. MISSION READOUT: xi VESSEL[ ]APPROXIMATELY EIGHT NM FROM THE COAST, IN THE GULF OF TONKIN, AT 2043N 10656E. FOUR PROBABLE ROCK CRUSHERS ARE OBSERVED ON DECK. OTHER DECK CARGO INCLUDES SIXTEEN HUNGARIAN CSEPEL D 450 VAN TRUCKS, ELEVEN EAST GERMAN W50L TRUCKS, FIVE CZECHOSLOVAKIAN PRAGA S5T TRUCKS, FIFTEEN SINGLE-AXLE TRAILER-MOUNTED GENERATORS (CRATED), AND NUMEROUS DRUMS. I VEALS TWO PROBABLE ROCK CRUSHERS NEAR THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE WHARVES IN HAI PRONG AT 20-51-55N 106-41-42E. FIVE ADDITIONAL ROCK CRUSHERS (ONE NOT SHOWN ON GRAPHIC) ARE OBSERVED ALONG ROUTE 5 NEAR THE VILLAGE OF PHI XA AT 20-55-35N 106-33-25E. I S OBSERVED AT 2o49N 1o650E, APPROXIMATELY EIGHT NM CLOSER TO HAI PRONG, CARRYING THE SAME DECK CARGO AS ON THE PREVIOUS MISSION. 3. REMARKS: THE ELEVEN PROBABLE ROCK CRUSHERS OBSERVED ON THESE MISSIONS NGA review(s) completed. THE FOLLOWING SIMILARITIES ARE NOTED: IDENTICAL POSITIONING OF THE ENGINE ON THE SM-9 TO THE CRATED PROBABLE ENGINE ON THE NEW VEHICLES; BOTH MACHINES HAVE THE SAME TYPE OF CONVEYOR BELT LOCATED AT THE SAME RELATIVE POSITION; AND BOTH HAVE SIMILAR DOUBLE PULLEY ARRANGEMENTS. THE NEWLY OBSERVED PROBABLE ROCK CRUSHERS APPEAR TO BE A LIGHTER WEIGHT AND SIMPLER MODEL THAN THE SM-9.
