23 JANUARY 1868, IS ANCHORED IN CHANGJAHWAN-
MAN (BAY, NEAR WONSAN.
4.8 NM NNE OF MUNCHON AT 39181gN 1272354E.
AT NOON, KOREA TIME, ON 23 JANUARY, THE UNITED
STATES SHIP PUEBLO, SAILING IN INTERNATIONAL
WATERS OFF THE NORTH KOREAN COAST, WAS CON-
FRONTED BY A HEAVILY ARMED NORTH KOREAN PATROL
BOAT IDENTIFIED AS SUBMARINE CHASER 35? THE
USS PUEBLO REPORTED THIS ENCOUNTER AND ITS LOCATION
AT THAT TIME AS 39-25.2N 127-55.OE, 16.3 NM FROM
THE NEAREST POINT OF THE NORTH KOREAN MAINLAND.
SUBMARINE CHASER 35 CIRCLED THE PUEBLO FOR
APPROXIMATELY ONE HOUR AT WHICH TIME THREE ADDI-
TIONAL NORTH KOREAN ARMED VESSELS APPEARED. THE
USS PUEBLO WAS THEN SEIZED BY AN ARMED BOARDING
PARTY AND FORCED INTO THE NORTH KOREAN PORT OF
WONSAN.

DO (ISLAND), 1 PROBABLE YUK-TO PrC UNDERWAY EAST OF HODO-PANDO HEADING
SSE, 1 PROBABLE COASTAL FREIGHTER UNDERWAY IN YONGHUNG-MAN (BAY), AND
NUMEROUS SMALL CRAFT THROUGHOUT THE AREA.
