SIGNIFICANCE: THIS BRIEFING BOARD PORTRAYS A LACK OF LOGISTICS ACTIVITY AT TRANS- SHIPMENT POINTS IN THE IMMEDIATE AREA OF QUANG KHE DURING THE 1968 TET TRUCE. 2. LOCATION: THE TRANSSHIPMENT POINTS ARE LOCATED ALONG BOTH BANKS OF THE SONG GIANG (RIVER) JUST NORTH OF QUANG KHE AND SEVENTY-THREE NM SOUTHEAST OF VINH, NORTH VIETNAM. 3. BACKGROUND: THE TRANSSHIPMENT POINTS ON THE SONG GIANG AT QUANG KHE, NORTH VIETNAM, WERE THE SITE OF CONSIDERABLE ACTIVITY DURING THE 1967 TET TRUCE AND DURING THE 1967-68 CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR TRUCE PERIODS. DURING THE 1967 TET TRUCE, 8 THROUGH 11 FEBRUARY 1967, NUMEROUS WATER-BORNE LOGISTICS CRAFT (INCLUDING SL-1 -SIGHTED FOR THE FIRST TIME IN NORTH VIETNAM) ACCOUNTED FOR A MAJOR PORTION OF THE LOGISTICS EFFORT. HOWEVER, NO LARGE WATER-BORNE LOGISTICS CRAFT WERE OBSERVED AT QUANG KHE DURING THE 1967-68 CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR TRUCE PERIOD. DURING THE 1967-68 CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR TRUCES SUPPLIES WERE OB- SERVED BEING BROUGHT SOUTH ALONG ROUTE lA BY CARGO TRUCKS, TRANSPORTED These notes have been prepared for briefing purposes only and should not be used for detailed analytical work. REMARKS: BECAUSE THE CONDITIONS OF THE 1968 TET TRUCE WERE AMENDED BY THE US.y THE AREA SOUTH OF VINH, NORTH VIETNAM, DID NOT ENJOY A CESSATION OF BOMB- ING. CONSEQUENTLY, THE NORTH VIETNAMESE COULD NOT FULLY UTILIZE THE TRANSSHIPMENT POINTS AT QUANG KHE NAVAL BASE CUU DINH OR ROUTE lA SOUTH OF VINH.
