THE JSA (A MEETING POINT STRADDLING THE MDL AND
CONSISTING OF CORRUGATED METAL BUILDINGS AND
GUARDPOSTS, THE UNC'S FREEDOM HOUSE, AND NORTH KOREA'S
FREEDOM PARK). AS THE CONFERENCE BUILDINGS ARE BISECTED
BY THE MDL, UNC REPRESENTATIVES NEGOTIATE FROM THE
REPUBLIC OF KOREA (ROK) WHILE COMMUNIST REPRESENTATIVES
CARRY ON BUSINESS, FROM NORTH KOREAN TERRITORY.
"FREEDOM PARK" IS KEPT UP BY THE COMMUNISTS AND CONSISTS
OF A PAGODA, BENCHES, SHRUBBERY, AND A GARDEN WHERE
REFRESHMENTS ARE SOMETIMES SERVED.

ROK AS A SYMBOL OF HOPE FOR THE PEACEFUL REUNIFICATION
OF KOREA UNDER ONE FREE AND DEMOCRATIC GOVERNMENT.
WITHIN THE BUILDING ARE FOUND KOREAN ART OBJECTS,
CONSUMER GOODS OF TODAY, AND A PHOTOGRAPHIC HISTORY OF
PRE- AND POST-WAR KOREA. IN FRONT IS A STATUE DEDICATED
TO UN AND ROK TROOPS WHO LOST THEIR LIVES IN DEFENSE
OF THE ROK.
5. MISSION READOUT: TWO SIGNIFICANT CHANGES ARE NOTED WITHIN PANMUNJOM SINCE
NOV 64. ONE HELICOPTER PAD NOW SERVES THE SITE - 2 OF THE 3 PREVIOUSLY
OBSERVED HAVE BEEN REMOVED. ALSO, A MAJOR IMPROVEMENT IS SEEN IN THE ROAD
NETWORK.
THREE SEDANS ARE VIEWED WITHIN THE JSA.
