Declassified and Approved For Release 2014/01/09: CIA-RDP79-00999A000200010062-7 STATUS OF PARAPSYCHOLOGY The Office of Technical Service has investigated the field of parapsychology for the past three years. During the past year a project jointly funded with the Office of Research and Development was completed. The goal of these investigations was to discovery and/or develop the operational potential of parapsychological capabilities. It has been decided by Agency management that research, and_development activities in parapsychology will not be continued. Operationally reliable and reproducible capabilites were not discovered or developed within the duration of the project. Because of the lack of clearly defined progress or understanding of ?the phenomena, continuing research has been judged to have too small a benefit versus cost ratio. Even though reliable parapsychological functioning was not discovered or developed, capabilities of operational significant were. The major difficult remains reliability Declassified and Approved For Release 2014/01/09: CIA-RDP79-00999A000200010062-7 Declassified and Approved For Release 2014/01/09: CIA-RDP79-00999A000200010062-7 \4, and reproducibility.
