On the basis of several telephone contacts and the attached request, the Navy program office involved with funding a fraction of the current SRI invertivatiorl was briefed concerning the CIA sponsored work. SG1I I Iwas invited to attend the briefing, but Was una i e to De A list of attendees is given in the second attachment. 2. Tice group was told of the entire funded prog beginning in 1972. Major results of each of the efforts were reviewed. The internal sensitivity concerning the project was discussed. The internal conflicts involvinb the interpretation of the investigation were reviewed. The negative evaluation of ORD/LJSR was emphasized. Opera- tional tests which continued after SRI funding stopped were mentioned as producing some good and some had results. The group was told if theX felt they had the need to know more, they should contact JOTS/:AB. ' o copies of the SRI final report were left with Mr. James Foote for ii's careful evaluation. Mr. Foote was told contact ORD/LSR for more infor- mation about ORD's evaluation an current interest in this area. 3. The meeting ended with a description of the two currently Navy funded tasks at SRI. These tasks are both extensions of work funded by CIA. I believe that Captain Wheeler, Commander of the Naval Electronics Systems Comiand, was rather overwhelmed with the information presented.
