Amory, informed DCI that advance copies of S%E-28 1 relating to foreign reaction to the oil prosecution would be available by noon. This estimate did not come before an IAC meetin; but was agreed to by all IAC members save the FBI which had no comment. 2. Informed DCI that we were meeting with General Lemnitzer in the afternoon. The meetin.r; with Lemnitzer was attended by 25X1 A9a 25X1 A9a Amory, - and myself. Prior to this meeting c ,. the CIA representatives had discussed th e possible question which might arise and had made minor revisions in a proposed NSC directive prepared in advance by - This directive named Generc,.l Edwards as comcniittee chairman for summary evaluation A9a and made him responsible to the NSC. Lennzitzer looked over our draft and indicated that he thought that it would be acceptable to General Bradley and'. the Joint Chiefs although he wished to speak with Bradley before giving final concurrence. He undertook to do this on Wednesday and to inform us. 3. Informed DCI of Ambassador Sebaldts desire that DCI look with favor on the Ambassador's recon iendations that 25X1 X6 be gotten out of Burma. DCI indicated that action had already been initiated at this end and the only difficulty now was the : ailure of State Department to take a position. He requested that Wisner bring me up-to-date on this matter. ).. I emphasized the difference between the intelligence trading on which I undertook to, and would, give support to Layton and the matters of special service relations which was involved in the security subcommittee question.
