Approved For Release 2000/09/12 : CIA-RDP79-01041A000100020115-6 ,rurity Information Official Diary Saturday, 27 September 1952 1. Spoke by phone to Mr. Jackson, who undertook to come down and talk over Secretary Lovett's revisions of the Brownell directive. It was ultimately arranged that Mr. Jackson would arrive on the Congressional Wednesday morning, which gets in about 10:30. 2. Spoke with General Magruder and Chip Bohlen respecting the Brownell directive. Undertook to send Magruder and Armstrong a redraft of this directive on Monday. 25X1A9a 3. Spoke to respecting the present posture of the Egypt matter and learned that some form of agreement had been signed with 25X1A9a the Bancamerica interests. Also requested to cooperate with 0/CI in the evaluation of a recent cable from Tehran respecting the plans of Kashani, et al. for a coup. 25X1A9a 5. Explained to - why I was unwilling to grant an excep- tion to the DCIts order requesting reports on trips in or out of the country 25X1A7b for I explained that there would, as a matter of course, be a screening of all such reports so that only matters which 25X1A9a should be brought to the attention of DCI would be finally transmitted to him. would have to take responsibility for screening these reports to me and I would take responsibility for any further screening. 6. I noted in the report of conferences with the Operational Offices, as furnished by 0/SI, that they are proceeding to make arrangements respecting what is to be done about scientists attending international conferences. There is no evidence that this is being coordinated by 0/0, to which I had assigned the general supervision and coordination in this 25X1A9a matter. I have asked to request Mr. Reber to insure that however this matter is handled it be coordinated by a single office. I am fearful that O/SI!s freewheeling may result in conflicting arrangements. 25X1A9a 7. Visited in Middleburg and with him reviewed the redraft of the Brownell directive.
