I indicated on behalf of CIA that a number of these papers were in very
preliminary state and would be greatly improved if an indication of the
weight and quantum of sources for the various portions was given.
Inquiry was made as to the Agency's attitude toward publication by a
commercial publisher of the studies on the dynamics of Soviet society and
the type of portrates (factory manager, etc,) i indicated that this was
the first time that I had heard of any such proposal and that there were
many serious questions to be considered. I could not even give a tentative
view until I had discussed this proposal with Messrs. Dilles and Wisner.
