SUBJECT: Authorization to Initiate NIS Geographic Name Projects
1. The Central Intelligence Agency hereby authorizes the U. S. Board
of Geographic Names to undertake preliminary name research and encumber
CIA working funds for such purposes,, on those areas, and in order of
priority as, indicated in paragraph S, below0
2, It is requested that:
a. Appropriate action be taken so that the resultant work
on the designated areas will have the status of "Official
Standard Names" of the U. S. Board .m Geographic Names.

authorization for component projects within these areas will be
furnished at a later date.
