they may be able to offer some observations on Soviet survey
methods, personalities, instruments, and other Soviet geodetic
activities. You might also ask them about their knowledge or
opinion or what the Soviets know about Norwegian geodetic date, or

Your work in astronomy and you Russian origin would seem to
oiler a reasonable basis for some general initial questions that
would indicate whether they have the knowledge or interest in
developing an extended discussion on Soviet geodesy. If their
information is significant enough we would like a detailed report.
I am also enclosing the first portion or the interrogation

would you, therefore, correct the manuscript and return it at your
earliest convenience? In doing this, of course, you will be able
to obtain the information you need for our project.
