25X1A9a 1. commuted that the AD/RR announced at the ORR
staff meeting this morning that present plane for the new bridge would
eliminate the temporary buildings in this area, and that present Agency
plans, if a move is required, call for a location in the Arlington or
D.C. central area, relatively near the White House, Pentagon, and
State Department.

director of the new Rational Indications Center (RIC).
The l1IC has been re-established to strengthen the function of watching
for indications of en.i action. The staff will consist of abgtit
20 people, possibly half of the number being analysts. It will be
located in the Pentagon and will be supported by the five intelligence
agencies of the U. S. Government. The AIC will act in support of the
IAC Watch Ccomittee in determination and anticipation of Soviet actions.
Initial embaais will be on refinement of indicators, with assistance 5X1A9a
from the Economic Area, ORR. mentioned some indicators, su ,
as, production of steel shell. cases which have a useable life of about
six months), lumber orders that indicate conversion of railroad cars to
troop transport, orders from Argentina for bay leaf (a necessary ingredient
of Soviet canned porK rations), orders from Cooommist China for large
numbers of life preservers. The list of indicators is being developed
from earlier lists. commuted that all intelligence officers
should become familiar with the indicators.

Area. It was decided that one full day in the Geographic Area will be

probably come to a showdown in the near future. The Department of
Interior apparently will either budget for the Division of Geography
during the next fiscal year, or else the Division might be abolished.
Interior will submit a budget estimate for the Division and see what

to London have been abandoned.

The Army is acquiring prints of magnetometer surveys. For the rest of
the photography, Col. Masters of the Army will write an offer of U. S.
mapping assistance to the Government of Burma, as a basis for a 25X1A9a
confidential exchange agreement. This offer to the Government of Burma
mist be approved first by the State Department and Air Forces
of D/G. will be involved in the A acquisition of negatives of magnetometer
