25X1A9a PRESENT:
25X1A9a 1. reported that on the basis of justification pre pared
25X1A9a by the AD/RR had discussed with General Truscott
25X1A6a It was indicated that General Truscott had received the idea a- 25X1A6a
V0 y, and that definite consideration will be given to the establishment
of such a position. It is not clear at this time as to the actual slotting
arrangement for this position.
25X1A9a 2. mentioned the fact that monthly contributions to the
DD/I News Letter will be collected not later than the 25th of each month
25X1A9a hereafter. with the assistance of will compile 25X1A9a
the Geographic Research Area contribution.
25X1A9a 3. in uired concerning circumstances surrounding the
resignation of of D/GG.
4. It was announced that 25X1A9a
near future, and that consideration is pre-
sently being given to travel plans in connection with this trip.
5. It was announced that comments reflecting division views concerning
criteria for exemptions from Phase 2 of the BIC (I) will be due in OCh/G by
21 June to permit their coordination and forwarding to the Training Liaison
Officer by 23 June.
25X1A9a 6. briefed the Staff on recent developments pointing
toward the establishment of a centralized Graphics Unit in the DD/I Area.
He pointed out that it appears that such a centralized unit would probably
be located in OCI. The future administrative status of the Special Support
Branch of D/GC was also mentioned as an associated problem.
25X1A9a 7. presented a letter concerning photogrammetry in the
25X1A9a USSR which had been obtained from an East German source. This letter was
passed to for use by and staff.
25X1A9a 8. re ported that arrangements had been made with St/PC
for reco con ro on D/GP projects that are normally disseminated on a
requestor-only basis. St/PC will keep a record of the project number,
title, and requestor, but will not retain an actual copy of the finished
product.

9. reported that the problem of space for the offering of
the Photo Interpretation course is still unsolved. The EX/RR has located a
space that was tentatively offered as a solution to the problem, but in view
of the fact that this space would accommodate only about 14 students and does
not meet the minimum requirements that had been established it was decided
25X1A9a that should discuss the matter further with 25X1A9a
pointing out the unsatisfactory features of the proffered space.
25X1A9a 10. volunteered a bit of information that he had encountered
in Science News Letter concerning biographical sketches of geographers through-
out the world. This is presumed to be somewhat similar to the IGU World
Directory of Geographers, but will check further as to its poten-
tial usefulness.
25X1A9a 11. reported that is now on home leave, and that 25X1A9a
it is anticipated with promotion, at the expiration 25X1 A6a
25X1A9a of his home leave and an appropriate briefing period. This will necessitate
a Chan a in plans for and the problem of notification to Mr.
25X1A9a was recognized.
25X1A9a 12. reported on the results of his visit to IR/OCD concerning
the problem of plotting fragmentary urban information on town plans. (See
paragraph 4 of minutes of OCh/G Staff Meeting, 7 June 195+). As a result of
his visit he has decided to abandon the plan for undertaking such a plotting
activity in D/GL, and to concentrate on the development of some more produc-
tive procurement activities on Soviet Bloc areas. It was agreed that Mr.

I would explore procurement possibilities with D/GG personnel and report
ack to the Staff at a subsequent meeting.
25X1A9a
13. reported to the group on his activities concerning
the various "career service", "Junior career development", "JOT", and "fitness
report" proposals currently before the Agency. It was indicated that career
development is essentially a problem for day-to-day supervision, and cannot
logically be accomplished through created programs of the type proposed.
25X1A9a IA. reported that will be leaving D/GG to join
25X1A9a the staff of 00. will likely depart about the end of July.
25X1A9a 15. expressed his expectation of full cooperation by all
members of the Staff in following policies arrived at in OCh/G Staff
Meetings, even though individual differences of opinion must often inevi-
tably be aired in Staff Meetings before the policies are arrived at.
