Van Rees OSS 25X1A9a The minutes of the 136th meeting were read by the Chairman and approved as amended. 1. GENERAL The shortages of paper and film existing at the printers and engravers was discussed. The Chairman stated that a meeting with officials of W.P.B. was scheduled. It appears that recent Y.P.B. instructions on paper and film allotments did not take into consideration concerns that were doing 100% government work in 1944. 25X1A9a suggested that he be informed of any changes to the supplement schedule in or er that he can inform all concerned and maintain a master schedule. The Chairman discussed JANIS and the organizational set-up for compiling it. Criticisms and suggestions for improving JANIS were invited. In this connection, it was suggested that field users of JANIS returned to U. S. be interviewed for their opinions. Captain Macomb reported that he continued to visit various libraries and is compiling references for JANIS 70. 2. EDITORIAL Commander Clinton reported that: (1) Last part of Chapter IV, JANIS 75 will go out today, leaving Chapters I and XV incomplete. On JANIS 150, two chapters completed during the week and Chapter IX will be submitted today. Nine chapters have now been completed. 3. PRODUCTION Lt. Van Rees reported as follows: JANIS 75 - Advance copies of Chapters XII, XIII, XIV have been received. Advance copies of Chapters III and XI should be received tomorrow ( 1 May). The remaining chapters, except II, IV and VI, will not be delayed. ISHING BOARD ICUT AVENUE . Engravers can not meet deadlines because of the amount of material for processing, which in turn is delaying the printing of JANIS. In this connection, the make-up of two chapters is'delayed because of engravings. 4. PLANNING. Lt. Quam reported that AMS is preparing a blue-line map (1:500,000) for JANIS 74. Op-16-P-3 and B.E.B. have been notified. Lt. Hackett will be notified today. The Geological Survey will prepare a base map for JANIS 72 within 2 weeks. The Topographic Branch, MIS, will prepare a base map for JANIS 79. Climatic material prepared by the Q.M.C. has been submitted to J.M.C. and Lt.
