Minutes of the 120th meeting read by the Chairman and approved.
1. GENERAL
J.T.S. 35 read by Chairman, who also stated that the paper was approved
by the J.T.S. members and submitted to J.I.C. The paper will be circulated
to the Staff.
A memorandum from O.P.D., W.D., through G-2, W.D., and J.I.C., commending
J.I.S.P.B., was read by the Chairman. The memorandum will be circulated to the
Staff.
The problem of securing intelligence material for JANIS from forward
echelons was discussed. Apparently, a contact must be made with high officials
of the forward echelon to inform them of our needs, who in turn would send special
material direct to J.I.S.P.B. for inclusion in JANIS publications. It was con-
cluded that arrangements should be made to establish direct channels between
the forward echelons and J.I.S.P.B. in order to eliminate the time-wasting "red
tape" of present channels.
The O.S.S. Transportation Chapter of JANIS 77 will be made more complete
by O.S.S. with a week or 10-day delay because of Geological Survey maps being
included. The delay in submission of same was approved.
The A. L. Garber Company will make deliveries of JANIS chapters by truck.
It was decided that even with some delays by truck deliveries, it would be
faster and much more dependable than Express.

2. PRODUCTION
JANIS 76 - Advance copies of Chapters VIII, X, and XII scheduled to be
received 9 January 1945; Chapters IX and XIV on 12 January 1945; and Chapter I
on 16 January 1945.
JANIS 85 - Advance copies of Chapter I scheduled to be received on
16 January 1945.
JANIS 78 - The A. L. Garber Company will meet all deadlines. No temporary
duty for J.I.S.P.B. personnel to accomplish chapters at Garber's contemplated.
3. EDITORIAL
Chapter I, JANIS 78, will be submitted today or tomorrow. All other
Chapters submitted.
JANIS 73 - Chapter VIII received 5 January 19145. Resources and Trade
Chapter not yet received. Three (3) O.S.S. Chapters not complete because
original figures not received. JANIS 73 is quite voluminous and will take all
month to process; review of JANIS 77 will begin 1 February 1945. The delay in
receipt of figures from contributors causes a "pile up" in the Graphic and Edi-
torial Sections, and much delay is occasioned in completing chapters. It was
concluded that contributes be requested to expedite submission of material in
order that text and figures can be worked on simultaneously. This arrangement
will be conducive to an orderly flow of material to and from Graphic and Edi-
torial Sections. Delays in furnishing base maps have contributed to the delays
in submission of material by contributors.
4. PLANNING
Army Map Service will furnish base map for JANIS 150 on 10 February 1945.
O.S.S. Map Intelligence Section will evaluate all maps and H.O. charts
except the A.M.S. series.
Re JANIS 75, Instruction Sheet ready for distribution; Outline Guide will
be ready for distribution this week.
Satisfactory base maps for JANIS 153 and 156 not yet found. Lt. Qu.am's
chapters are coming in and his dual duties at this time are too confining.
Captain Macomb will help in selecting satisfactory base maps.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned; next meeting
will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday, 15 January 1945.
