HEViEWERl 018646 The minutes of the 79th Meeting were read and approved,. 2. Fallowing the brief business session of the Board, Lt. Comdr. Clinton, Mayor I3ouglas, lieutenants Pratt, Quam, and Van Rees were called in to discuss various problems confronting the organization. 3. The classification of illustrations was considered, and it was the consensus of opin3.on that the Board not deviate from its original policy and that the classification on illustrations would remain Confidential.. Ii.. Original and retyped manuscript is to be returned to the contribu- tors and the carbon. copies are to be destroyed. Photographs and engravers proof ~ri11 be held for 30 days after the publication of a chapter, and after that time they will be destroyed. ~. The assignment of Capt. Stanley and Ensign Bunker eras discussed and the matter was tabled pending further study. 6. Cal. Bicknell painted out that the Joint Topographical Subcommittee has indicated that t~ze JAMS Board has the authority to dictate the size of 25X1A9a various chapters. offered to estimate the sizes of these chapters prier to the plannin~ eetings, and the suggestion was also made that the chapter editors workww~th the Board Members their estimate of the approximate size. No definite action was taken pending further consideration to this problem. 7. A brief discussion was held on the excess numb er of photographs and the responsibility of limiting such number of photographs was placed with the editors. $. Col. Bicknell instructed the section chiefs to be more conscien- tious in the matter of lunch times, leaves, and afternoons off, laying partic- ular stress on the point of flexibility in taking time off and the importance of getting the work out on schedule. Mayor I?auglas presented a-draft of procedure in handling graphic material, v~fiich was discussed and approved in revised form. Mayor 17ouglas was instructed to prepare a revised and approved copy of this draft. As a r exult of the adoption of this procedures the Cartographic Subsection and Map anal Photo Subsection roves combined into one unit to be designated as the Graphic Section. 1t3. .Letters and memoranda. ari,ginating in the Production Department or having to do with the production of JAMS in any phase will bc~ prepared in draft and be concurred in by Comdr. Bailey before being presented to the Secretariat for typing and transmittal. The ~'roduction Departm ent is to re- caiva acopy of all such correspondence.
