MEMORANDUM FOR THE JOINT TOPOGRAPHIC SUBCOMMITTEE :
Subject: Static Intelligence.
Reference: JISPB Memo of 14 December 1945.
1. The Joint War Plans Committee, having considered the
existing world situation and _ntelligcence studies now available,
recommends that:
a. Joint Army Navy intelligence Studies (JANIS) bo
assigned priority as follows:
(1) European Russia (under preparation).
(2) S .beria west of 13CP east.*
(3) Iceland.
( 4{,) Central. China (under preparation) .
(5) Northern Canada (including Labrador and area
north of 520 (approximately)).
(6) Siberia east of 1300 east (areas covored by JANIS
73 and JANIS 78 may bo excluded).
(7) Argentina (Lander preparation).
(C3) Sakhalin (JANIS 79) (to be completed).
(9) Southern Canada.
*primarily from viewpoint of air operations.
b. Second phase (partial) JANIS be assigned priority as
follows :
(1) Egypt.
(2) Libra.
(3) Cyprus.
(11) Newfoundland.
(5) Greenland.
